The Salsedo Family Garden

Burlington, CT
Dry/xeriscape, Fruit/vegetables, Water feature, Organic/toxin-free

Our gardens enjoy a unique location: a hilltop, 1,000 feet above sea level, with a magnificent view of 4,000 acres of watershed and state forest. Beginning in 1977, physical transformations have resulted in stone-walled terraces that render this acre-plus site usable. The last big change, in 1995, added an expanded backyard terrace with a pool, post-and-beam gardener's tool shed, dwarf conifer collection, vegetable garden, and a collection of hardy chrysanthemums. The front yard features low-maintenance lawns punctuated by beds of native and exotic trees, shrubs, and perennials. The emphasis here is sustainability with a focus on low maintenance and minimal water requirements.
