Open Days, Water feature, Cutting garden, Woodland, Edibles
Our hornbeam-enclosed flower garden with formal bluestone paths frames fourteen flowerbeds and was inspired by the flower garden at Wave Hill in the Bronx. Our house, designed by my husband, Peter Pennoyer, faces directly onto the garden. Our landscape architect, Edmund Hollander, designed our property with simple hedgerows and trees, reserving the flower garden area for me to unleash a less disciplined approach. The property includes a cutting garden with vegetables, tomatoes, and dahlias. A new woodland garden encompasses a path from our house to the pond and to the cornfield beyond that defines the edge of the property.
