Andes, NY
Open Days, Edibles, Water feature

Our garden is on a hillside facing the western Catskills, with four ponds descending toward the mountain view. Around the house and large barn, part of a former dairy farm, are several formal garden spaces defined by native stone walls. They include a perennial border, a fountain terrace, and a vegetable garden. An allée of Japanese lilacs ascends the hillside, and informal plantings edge two of the ponds and a connecting stream.

Directions: From the village of Andes, take Route 1/Tremperskill Road for 5.3 miles to Bussey Hollow Road. Turn right and go for 2.6 miles to driveway on right, Post Box 265.
