Garden Documentation: Why and How

Workshop presentations:

Morning session: Chloe Kadel and Pamela Governale are leading the discussion. Chloe is an archivist who has been documenting the Chase Garden, and Pamela Governale is the Director of Preservation for the Garden Conservancy. They will discuss archiving meaningful collections for future access and continued preservation. They will also talk about what constitutes documentation, how to plan for documentation, the benefits of documentation, the process of creating an archive, and how to make the archive useful to others.

Afternoon session: Nancy Kartes and Alex Wright from the Bellevue Botanical Garden and Ross Bayton from Heronswood will focus on documenting plant collections, discussing what their goals are for their documentation and what their process is. Following these case study presentations will be a panel discussion and question time.
