Digging Deeper: Thoroughly Modern Westport: From Stage to Garden

Digging Deeper: Thoroughly Modern Westport: From Stage to Garden

Sun, May 29, 2022
5:00 PM- 6:00 PM

Westport's arts community transformed from a small farming community into an "Avant Garde" cultural center made of institutions and stars in the performing, visual, and literary arts. Blau House & Gardens grew out of this engaging history-the house designed by stage set designer Ralph Alswang, and the garden created by Barry Blau, marketing executive. Tour the grounds with Matty Selman, a dramatist, and Robert Cohen and Emily Blau Cohen as they discuss how the Mid-century Modern house relates to the Westport arts community and how Barry Blau was inspired to create a dramatic but intimate garden that reflects his ever-evolving tastes.

Regardless of the scale of your garden and the depth of your experience, be prepared to discover how to add new dimensions to your existing landscape and bring it to the next level of intrigue and interest. Blau Gardens has been featured in Connecticut Cottages and Gardens magazine and is included in the Smithsonian Archives of American Gardens collection.

Admittance to this garden’s Open Day on May 29 is included with a purchase of the corresponding Digging Deeper ticket.
