Surprise Oasis on the Edge of Philadelphia

In 2002, I moved to this property and pretty much removed all the gardens and started over. I built a greenhouse which is fully irrigated and houses all the hanging baskets and perennials we will use throughout the growing season.

I designed the gardens around the pool to be “show gardens” so that I could show my clients the diversity of beautiful plant material we can grow in our area. There are dozens of varieties of trees, shrubs, and perennials with many different plant habits, tendencies, and colors. Hydrangeas and conifers of many types provide the backbone to this garden.

We are surrounded by 400 acres of the Schuylkill Nature Center, so the vastness of trees in the background make it hard to believe that this is located in the city of Philadelphia.
