CANCELLED - The Piraino Garden

Our 29-year-old garden is secluded within a green frame of bamboo, Mexican evergreen climbing hydrangea, fir, and cedar trees. It is a blend of Asian and Northwestern garden styles, designed for leisurely discovery and contemplation. Planted and organically maintained solely by the two of us, the garden features variations of leaf size, shape, texture, and hue, combined with brighter color accents that change through the seasons. Look for five varieties of clumping bamboo, several varieties of Japanese maple, collected stones, artwork, and small bits of whimsy. The garden now borders on the newly established Rockaway Bluff Nature Preserve. We have been busy replanting sections of the garden due to our increasingly dry climate and increased shade from our tree friends. Some of the garden art pieces were designed by us, and the large rock sculpture is by a local island artist. We look forward to sharing our peaceful corner of Bainbridge Island with you.
