Woodland Bird Sanctuary
Wheat Ridge, CO
About
The half-acre garden has a woodland feel, with mature native and introduced trees, shrubs, and perennials. Over the last 25 years, concrete and lawn has been reduced and replaced with water, food, and nesting habitat for a variety of birds and beneficial insects. Food-producing plants for people are also grown throughout the garden. All garden debris is used as mulch and to improve soil. The garden has many different microclimates, and plantings range from roses, hostas, and hydrangeas to a drought-tolerant rock garden.
This garden’s estimated size is 1/2 acre
