The Garden Conservancy Preservation Partner Garden

About

Our garden consists of several distinct areas, each seamlessly connected by a series of winding, meandering paths. As visitors make their way through the landscape, they encounter a harmonious blend of naturalistic beds and meadows, which are thoughtfully arranged alongside more formal elements.

These include parterres that provide structure and elegance, pleached hornbeam hedges that create living walls, pollarded willows adding architectural interest, and an English beech hedge that offers year-round greenery and formality. PS - there are dahlias :)

We have been thoughtfully designing and developing this garden for nine years, always with a focus on supporting pollinators and bird populations as one of our top priorities. Our approach embraces a slightly relaxed, intentionally “messy” style, encouraging plants such as nicotiana and verbena to self-seed freely. This allows for natural movement and change within the garden, giving us the flexibility to edit or transplant as needed.

In 2025, we introduced a new gravel garden, adding textural contrast and diversity to the landscape. Alongside this addition, new steps were constructed to lead visitors from the Bank bed up to the upper meadow, enhancing accessibility and creating a seamless flow between different sections of the garden.

This garden's estimated size is 3/4 acre.

This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: There are uneven paths, possibly muddy areas (weather related) and some uneven terrain.
