The Secret Garden @ 377 The Gotelli Garden at Harrison Park
East Orange, NJ
About
This one-acre, formal Italianate garden designed by William T. Gotelli celebrates its 74th birthday in 2025! This unique garden sits atop our parking garage at Harrison Park Towers and is entered through our lobby. We have a number of dwarf conifers and other shrubs that came from Gotelli’s personal gardens in South Orange prior to his donation of plants and trees to the National Arboretum (Google: Gotelli Dwarf Conifer Collection for a walking tour of the collection). At the end of his life, he moved into this building so that he could enjoy his lifetime’s rooftop design achievement. The garden has just completed a number of major restoration steps to recover from a large construction project in 2009 involving the drainage system and garage. This garden has extensive collections of azalea, hydrangea, lilac, hosta, peony, tree peony, and spring-blooming trees. The Secret Garden @ 377 is a very special feature of this almost 300-unit cooperative apartment community.
