The Miller Gardens
Branford, CT
About
The Miller Gardens seek to support a tranquil, private and enjoyable sanctuary. This unique property, with its outstanding water features and many surrounding landscapes, captured the attention and won the 2017 CT Federated Garden Club Award. Their landscapes began from a blank slate in 2009, all of which were planted and maintained by the homeowners, along with their trials and errors. Their initial goal was to reduce their street noise and simply grow their privacy. As their landscapes developed, so did local interest in that they were asked to host 4 more garden tours, 2 for the Branford Garden Club’s Art in the Garden in 2016 and 2021 and 2 more requested by Dietter’s Water Gardens, of which 1 evoked the interest of 8 landscape architects interested in discussing landscaping experiences around water features. Some of the key elements of this property are the unique features that lure you through the side entry gate—such as the layered mix of many evergreens, shrubs and perennials that blanket the property in various 16 landscapes. They have created a tranquil space to enhance the sound of water for birds and pollinators as they continue to support why they strive for a safe and chemical free environment.
This garden’s estimated size is 1 acre.
