Native Village Garden in Process
Hancock, NH
About
The oldest parts of our gardens in Hancock village are just six years old, and the newest beds were just planted in autumn of 2024. When we bought the property in autumn of 2018 there were no existing gardens. The house was surrounded by 3/4 of an acre of lawn, a few misshapen trees and lots of invasive species. After bulldozing the property to address drainage issues and eradicate the invasives, we enlisted the help of Larkspur Design in Portland, ME (our daughter’s firm), to help us design a native garden to host beneficial insects and birds, while also respecting the aesthetic of our residential village setting. The gardens are very much a work in process.
This garden’s estimated size is 1/4 acre.
