Mila and Barry's Garden
Allendale, NJ
About
Mila Kudelka and Barry Seelig live on an acre of garden, now fifteen years old, bordered on the far end by native woodland with an active stream where wild ducks, grey herons, raccoons, and deer pass through. This lower garden with its designed landscape gives the impression of a secret garden, in contrast to the extreme opposite end of the property, an active roadway. The house is bordered by seasonally blooming rhododendrons, azaleas, iris, lilies, peonies, roses, hostas, pachysandra, spring flowering bulbs, perennials, and fall blooming grasses. A curved wall with lilies, roses, hostas, spring-flowering tulips, and a gently sloping hill separates the upper garden and house from the lower garden path leading to the stream. The path is bordered with iris, around a massive 300-hundred-year-old tulip tree, over a bridge, and past a daffodil garden.
This garden’s estimated size is 1 acre.
