From the moment that you enter this sun-splashed horticultural oasis, you will be awestruck by the amazing diversity of the plantings. Over the years, a wide variety of plants, including hundreds of trees and shrubs have been introduced to the landscape in a deliberate, mostly naturalistic manner.

Particularly, they reflect a genuine interest in plants by the owners, a characteristic rarely seen, even in stateside botanical gardens. The gardens, accented by two natural ponds, fed by a small intermittent stream, are designed as a series of rooms, each shaped by the natural conditions of the land—its soil, slope, and seasonal water flow. Unusual trees have been placed throughout.

Encompassing nearly three heavily planted acres, the gardens have been designed to promote interest from spring through September. Located within a 9-acre compound, the gardens have been constructed piecemeal over a period of 25 years.

Winding stone pathways through the woodlands and wetlands lead from one area into another, and crossing paths provide multiple viewpoints of the same area. Whether you’re a seasoned plant lover or a casual nature enthusiast, you’ll find peace and beauty in every corner.
