Mallard Sanctuary

Pound Ridge, NY

The Garden Conservancy Preservation Partner Garden

About

We purchased the home and property in 2016. We immediately embarked on the enormous undertaking of removing invasive plants, such as Burning Bush, Barberry, Pennisetum grasses, and mile a minute vine. It took two years to fully renovate the property, creating thoughtful spaces for gathering and dining, moving boulders to create rock gardens, walls and a jumping rock on the pool edge. We planted thousands of native plants to create a high performing landscape that provides a variety of benefits to the local ecology such as conserving resources, managing stormwater, providing habitat for local wildlife, and reducing maintenance needs. The beautiful natural setting supports the biodiversity and habitat of Mallard Lake and Pound Ridge, and plays a part in slowing the decline of native flora and fauna. We absolutely love the quiet solitude of living on Mallard Lake, watching amazing wildlife and knowing that we are making a difference.

This garden’s estimated size is 4 acres.
