About
Join Wayne Cahilly, consulting arborist and former New York Botanical Garden site historian, horticulturist, and instructor, for a guided tour through Lyndhurst’s 67-acre National Historic Landmark site. This walking tour will focus on the surviving nineteenth-century specimen trees that illustrate the evolution of landscape design in the United States. Discover winding drives and pleasure walks as you learn about the “hide and reveal” sequence of vistas that define the property. Cahilly’s talk will not only share the history of arboriculture in the United States, but examine the challenges faced in maintaining historic landscapes in their original context.
