Longview Gardens
Pelham, NH
About
Longview Gardens are my peace and my meditation—something that I started from a “blank slate” when we moved here to start our family 15 years ago! I’m very nostalgic when it comes to gardening, and I started out by bringing carloads full of plants from my childhood home that included multi-generational flowers going back to my great grandmother’s farmhouse in Cabot, VT.
I’ve been building out the garden beds as much as I can (and as much as my wife will allow!) over the years. It’s a process of constant revision as well as learning through trial and error. The gardens are full of perennials to extend color from early spring through fall as much as possible for Southern NH. Daylilies abound, with over 140 registered cultivars, including five of my own registrations as a hobby hybridizer, and several seedling beds as well. The tiered property provides excellent depth to achieve good visual interest.
As there was very little here when we moved in except for overgrowth, I’ve expanded usable space and garden beds, and maintained some native trees and shrubs that are incorporated into the landscape as well.
The gardens have become our personal oasis, they are eclectic, constantly evolving, and I hope you enjoy them, too!
This garden's estimated size is 1 acre.
This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: Garden visitors must traverse a steep driveway, and the gardens are hilly as well.
