Digging Deeper: Successional Mosaic Landscape
Stone Ridge, NY
About
This Program will discuss how I prioritized the reintroduction of native plants and the removal problematic introduced species.
This landscape project eschews the typical gardening practices of weeding, mulching and thinning, and instead focuses solely on mowing management.
The goal is to foster a diverse plant and animal community that becomes increasingly stable over time, and in turn, requires less invasive species removal.
During this Digging Deeper, I will discuss my journey to creating a more sustainable, and productive landscape.
This Digging Deeper Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: It is easy walking on paths. In the spring it can be very wet, but late in the summer it is rarely wet with puddles, unless then day before has a lot of rain.
