Digging Deeper: Oudolf Garden Native Meadows Exploration

Detroit, MI

The Garden Conservancy Preservation Partner Garden

About

This Digging Deeper is presented in partnership with the Oudolf Garden Detroit.

Join us for a guided plant walk and learning experience in the Native Meadows at Oudolf Garden Detroit—a unique lakeplain prairie habitat.

The meadows were planted two years ago to rehabilitate the areas adjacent to Lake Tacoma with flowering plants, sedges and rushes well-suited to the terrain.

And for those who want to volunteer in a Piet Oudolf public garden, we’ll have an opportunity to plant native plant plugs together.

Enjoy strolling the gardens and learning with our experts, and capture photography during the golden hour of early evening.

This Digging Deeper Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: Please wear sturdy shoes to walk through the meadow on grassy pathways. Portions of the meadow can be damp or seasonally wet. If you'd like to help with the planting, we suggest wearing long pants and bringing gardening gloves. We will provide planting tools.
