About

This talk and tour will lead participants through a mostly natives pollinator garden and then through a well- established native shrubs garden. Both these gardens demonstrate plants well- adapted to drier western conditions.

Mikl will identify the plants and talk about interesting facts about them. Some of these plants are 35 years old. They all represent many years of selection for resiliency in Front Range gardening conditions. They provide insights into the potential for gardening under climate change stresses of wind, drought, and heat, and provide an example of a western aesthetic.

Mikl is co-owner of Harlequin’s Gardens sustainable nursery with a 33 year history.

This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: It can be hot at the end of June, so do wear sunscreen and a hat. Long sleeves can be helpful at 5300' elevation; and of course: WATER. We will be walking over gravel roads and mulched paths.
