Amenia, NY
About
This Digging Deeper is presented in partnership with Wethersfield Estate & Garden.
Wethersfield, set within a 1,000-acre historic landscape, is renowned for its elegant mansion, conservation farm, and Italian Renaissance-style garden.
The garden’s defining feature is its remarkable collection of beech trees, now facing serious threats from beech leaf disease and the stresses of a warming climate. Join new Head Gardener Katharine Barrie for an in-depth look at current research on the disease and the estate’s response.
This Digging Deeper program highlights Wethersfield’s evolving strategies to restore and protect beech trees, emphasizing soil health as the foundation for resilience and showcasing successful practices from soil building to targeted care.
This Digging Deeper Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: Please wear comfortable shoes for walking on mixed terrain.
