This Digging Deeper is presented in partnership with The Olana Partnership.

Over forty years, the artist Frederic Church designed Olana’s landscape. In 2024, a landmark new visitor center designed by Architecture Research Office and Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects opened, offering a holistic understanding of Church’s large-scale landscape design.

With native plantings, cross-laminated timber Construction, and bird-friendly glass, the building works in concert with Olana’s living landscape and welcomes visitors to Olana’s 250 acres, including a man-made lake, historic carriage roads, and breathtaking views.

This Garden Host has the following recommendations for this program: Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Program will take place rain or shine. A hat, light layers, and sunscreen is recommended. A wine and cheese reception will follow this program.
