Cary's Garden

Boulder, CO

The Garden Conservancy Preservation Partner Garden

About

A beautiful garden oasis against the foothills and near Boulder Creek in central Boulder. The home was originally built in 1910. The garden incorporates many old heirloom roses and an old Arkansas black apple tree, but most of it was planted in 2019 (professionally designed and constructed).

Mainly foliage and floral plants with views of the Flatirons and Flagstaff mountain. Plantings surround the home, rear garden plantings surround a central lawn and a very rear floral garden has vines all along the surrounding fence creating a garden “room.”

Garden Extra: At 11:00 and 1:00, the Garden Host will discuss an ongoing project to remove and rehabilitate a section of the garden unknowingly planted with Japanese Knotweed (Reynoutria japonica), an invasive species.

This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: Stone paths throughout, some are solid paths, some are large stepping stones, area of pea gravel in rear garden.
