About

We have been developing our gardens since 1995 when we began collaborating with the late Tony Tyznik, Landscape Architect for the Morton Arboretum for 40 years. Tony’s design covers approximately 1 acre, and includes a bluestone patio; fountain; perennial gardens; a vegetable and cutting garden; a pergola; an espaliered apple tree and other fruit trees and fruiting shrubs; and compost beds.

We have tried our best to be true to the design but cannot resist trying to stuff yet another plant in somewhere! Our “Bridge to Nowhere” spans a seasonal stream bed and leads to a wild area with walking paths and a DIY labyrinth. This section is an active work in progress, where we hope to replace the invasive undesirables with native prairie plants.

In the spring, thousands of various bulbs can be seen all around the property. All weeds are native to the site.

This garden’s estimated size is 3 acres.
