Visions of Paradise - Sally Robertson Garden & Studio
Bolinas, CA
Garden structure/sculpture, Water feature
I like to think of walking through the garden gate as entering an enchanted and magical world. When asked to describe my garden, I refer to the title of one of my favorite garden books, Visions of Paradise. This expression has guided me for nearly four decades. As a painter, I often choose plants as inspiration for a watercolor, but I give much thought to their placement, for the garden itself is a highly orchestrated color palette. As I mature as a gardener, shrubs and trees which give year-round structure become more and more important, and well-shaped shrubs mingle well with exuberant roses. Succulents have found their place, along with unusual specimens such as the exotic phoenix palm from the Canary Islands, or the lovely deciduous dawn redwood from China. The koi pond and water garden offer an idyllic spot to linger and enjoy a reflective moment. The garden is an ever-changing project, evolving year after year, and I hope that even those who have visited in the past will find new inspiration here. Visitors are also invited to visit the studio, where art and garden meet.
This garden's estimated size is ¾ acre.
