GARDEN EXTRA at the Vineyard at River Hills: Celebrate the first-ever Wisconsin Vineyard Week by exploring a local vineyard and tasting wine made with its grapes in a fabulous garden setting! The owners of the Vineyard at River Hills harvested more than three tons of grapes from their two-acre vineyard last year. This in addition to maintaining espaliered fruit trees, a vegetable, fruit and cutting garden and sun and shade perennial borders! The 2019 harvest is committed to Randy Larson, owner of Spirits of Norway Vineyard in nearby Norway, WI, and his wife, Sandy Johnson, the vintner of their award-winning wines. As a special treat for Open Days visitors, Randy and Sandy will be holding a wine tasting in this garden from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In keeping with the mission of Open Days, this will be yet another way to explore the regional landscape through the concept of terroir, how the particularities of soil, climate, and topography impact the taste of the grapes grown in the local area and thus the wine made from the bounty.
Admission to each private garden is $10 per person and children 12 and under are free.
Don't forget to buy discounted admission tickets in advance. They can be used at most Open Days to make garden visiting easier.
Nonmembers get 6 visits for the price of 5 with advanced ticket book purchase.
Members get 50% off ONLY by purchasing ticket books in advance.
