The Salesforce Transit Center—opened to the public
in 2018—is a modern transit station capped with an iconic 5.4-acre rooftop park, designed as a public
destination and community asset in downtown San Francisco. The park serves as an essential element of the new East Cut neighborhood, providing a horticulturally rich open space in an area whose population is growing rapidly. The design incorporates expansive soil volumes to support large, healthy trees and the gardens highlight plant communities that thrive in San Francisco’s Mediterranean climate. Public art, including a dynamic “Bus Fountain” that expresses the movement of the buses below, punctuates the connections between the gardens and the facility as a whole.
Join us for a tour of this cutting-edge park, guided by Adam Greenspan of PWP Landscape Architecture, who led the design of the park. Greenspan will provide insight into the technological and horticultural dimensions of the design, and how they have performed during the park’s first four years of operation. Lunch will be included; details to follow.
