Digging Deeper: Rhododendron Love—Creating Your Own Hybrids

Blueberry Ridge Garden

Sun, May 24, 2020
3:00 PM

Garden host Peter Norris has been collecting and hybridizing rhododendrons and Japanese maples for decades. Surrounded by his nearly 700 varieties of rhododendrons in peak bloom, Peter will introduce the joys and techniques of hybridizing. Under his expert guidance, participants will have a chance to make their own hybrid crosses using this remarkable collection, which includes Peter’s own cultivars and choice heirloom varieties. The collection features many of the acclaimed Dexter hybrids, which the New York Times described as being “among the finest rhododendrons for home landscapes.” Participants will receive seeds in the fall, hopefully resulting in their own seedlings next spring!
