Celebrate the transformative impacts (and delicious rewards) of urban farming by sharing food and ideas at City Farm. Founded in 1981, Southside Community Land Trust provides access to land, education, and other resources so people in Rhode Island can grow food in environmentally sustainable ways and create community food systems where locally produced, affordable, and healthy food is available to all. Hundreds of youth, volunteers, and beginning farmers learn about planting, growing, and harvesting food at City Farm, the oldest urban farm in Rhode Island. Enjoy an interactive cooking demonstration using seasonal produce from City Farm and savor these creations with small plate tastings and an array of other local offerings, wine, and refreshments. The chef (a Southside Community Land Trust employee) will lead the conversation about SCLT’s work as well as the benefits and versatility of plant-based cooking.
