How do you create a unique Asian-influenced garden in the Hamptons? Start with acres and acres of deep emerald green moss. Add a special assortment of plants, including some that grew in Asia more than 100 million years ago. Carve into the woods a Japanese stroll garden, a Japanese stone garden, a Japanese bridge garden, a Chinese pond garden, a Himalayan birch grove, sand dunes, and a waterfall hidden among the pines. Highlight the gardens with antique ornaments collected from Asia and other parts of the world. The result: a misty window into the Asian aesthetic. The garden has been featured in several newspapers and magazines.

“Yugen” is a Japanese aesthetic term relating to the subtle mystery and transience of beauty, like clouds passing across the moon.
