Davern Oaks

Austin, TX
Open Days, Organic

The storybook quality of the Daverns' Tudor-style home is a splendid backdrop for the equally enchanting gardens. Rain Lily Design began working on the gardens sixteen years ago. Inheriting some 'good bones', they have slowly transformed the space into what you see today. The layout of the space lends itself to an exploratory stroll, with many intriguing spots that invite more interest, such as the firepit and herb garden. There is a peekaboo quality to many of the spaces, keeping the viewer quite engaged. The mostly shady garden pushes the limits of its plantings, for a maximum of interest. These plantings complement a well laid-out structure of green hedges, lawn spaces, and more traditional woodland type plantings. The gardens have been maintained organically for the last sixteen years. Please enjoy.

Directions: You will find this surprisingly secluded garden just a short drive West down East 38th 1/2 St, from IH35, in Central Austin. The nearest points of reference are the Hancock Golf Course, or St. Davids Hospital.
