Ballard Garden

The Ballards wanted to transform their traditional front yard-with its dying lawn, tired ball-shaped hedges, and outdated fence-into something that felt wild and natural but was also low maintenance and conserved water. Their renovated garden now includes a dry creek bed and stone "bridge" with a flagstone pathway meandering through a low-mow meadow lawn. The plantings include a mixture of colorful perennials, succulents, interesting foliage plants, and new and mature trees. Hummingbirds are a constant visitor to this new garden as they visit the vibrantly colored kangaroo paws and salvias.
