Wednesday, September 28
10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Explore seasonal themes of seed saving and sharing - as well as edible harvests - in depth on a special day of touring three beautiful Hudson Valley sites, personally guided by leading agricultural and horticultural experts.

We'll meet at Mohonk Mountain House for a tour of their carefully curated garden, followed by a  sumptuous lunch

After lunch, we'll board a chartered van for a visit to Lee Reich's "farmden," where he grows an astounding variety of edibles on his 2.5 acre plot in New Paltz, and be treated to a taste of some of his more unusual fruit.

Then we'll visit the Hudson Valley Seed Library in Accord, where Shanyn Siegel, horticulturist, educator, author of The Seed Garden and former collection curator and head of preservation for the Seed Savers Exchange, will discuss the importance of seed saving and discuss how to choose the best specimens for seed harvest. The library's director, Ken Greene, will also demonstrate seed saving on a larger scale and give us a tour of their farm, which specializes in seed harvest.

Cost
$230 per person includes lunch, chartered bus transportation from Mohonk Mountain House, and all tour fees.

Please note:
As with all garden and landscape tours, this trip involves extended periods of walking and standing, at times on sloped and uneven terrain. It is important, for both their own safety and for the consideration of fellow travelers, that participants are physically able to negotiate the demands of the tour and topography we will cover. This tour is considered to be a moderate hike.
