The day will begin with a presentation by Ginny Lang, of Lang Consulting in Bellingham, WA, on some of the key steps in building a strong board for your organization, including recruitment, education, and retention. Also covered will be how to create a strong and positive working environment so that board members can effectively help organizations fulfill their mission. 

In the afternoon, there will be a group discussion about the various methods used by each organization when building a successful board, so that participants can learn from each other.

Following the workshop, there will be a docent-led tour of Dunn Gardens.

About the speaker
Virginia D. Lang is a veteran management consultant who has worked in the corporate sector of the nonprofit community for nearly thirty years. She has served as an expert coach, trainer, facilitator, and consultant to an impressive array of nonprofit organizations and is an accomplished speaker and educator. 

Lang is a member of Exploration Academy's Council of Advocates and the Vista Advisory Committee for the Opportunity Council, both in Bellingham, WA. She also leads business and nonprofit workshops at Whatcom Community College and has served on the Steering Committee for the Whatcom Council of Nonprofits.
