Rod Ward is a retired partner (now “of Counsel”) to Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in its Wilmington, Delaware, office. He joined the Garden Conservancy board of directors in 2005 and serves as chair of the board's audit committee. In addition to a professional career that has included the presidency of the Delaware State Bar Association, he is also a member of the board of directors of Winterthur Museum and Gardens in Winterthur, Delaware; a founder of the Winterthur Garden and Landscape Society; member of the Asticou Azalea Garden Committee in Northeast Harbor, Maine; director of Bessemer Trust Company of Delaware and of Corporation Service company; and a former director of the Delaware Art Museum. He and his wife, Susan, have created a woodland garden in Wilmington and are developing a garden in Maine.
