Membership Manager, The Garden Conservancy, Cold Spring, NY
The Membership Manager is responsible for building, marketing, and managing the Garden Conservancy’s Membership program. In addition, this position is in charge of membership development programs for the Garden Conservancy and its preservation projects around the country. The Membership Manager will collaborate with other departments to ensure that membership in the Conservancy is presented as an important and attractive option through the Open Days program, educational events, and preservation project initiatives. Landscape Director, The Fells Historic Estate & Gardens, Newbury, NH
The Fells, a preservation project of the Garden Conservancy, is looking to fill the part-time seasonal position of Landscape Director. Responsibilities include maintaining the landscape, teaching horticulture classes, and paricipating in botanical and historical research. The Fells is located on the eastern shore of Lake Sunapee, facing Mount Sunapee in Newbury, New Hampshire, near Dartmouth College and with easy access to I-89. Lead Gardener, Rocky Hills, Mount Kisco, NY
A twelve-acre property and strolling garden, Rocky Hills is looking for a full-time lead gardener to ready the garden for the 2012 season. Rocky Hills has been placed under a conservation easement in an agreement with the Westchester County Parks system, its owner Henriette Suhr, and the Garden Conservancy. Responsibilities include: garden maintenance (i.e. watering, weeding, planting, pruning, and infrastructure care); coordinating garden maintenance with contractors, volunteers, and other staff; and working with the garden’s owner and Garden Conservancy staff on tour and event preparations as well as helping on other projects relating to preparing for the future of Rocky Hills as a public garden. Executive Director, California Native Plant Society, Sacramento, CA
The California Native Plant Society (CNPS), a science-based organization with over 9,000 members, is seeking an executive director who will be a strong and articulate advocate for one of California’s leading conservation organizations. CNPS is organized in 33 chapters across the state, a Chapter Council, a Board of Directors, numerous local and statewide committees, and volunteer and paid administrative and program staff. Volunteer leadership is an integral and vital component of the organization. The Society’s members work in cooperation with county, state, and federal agencies, elected officials, NGOs, and other non-profit organizations to conserve California native plants and their natural habitats, and increase understanding, appreciation, and horticultural use of native plants. The Society’s administrative and technical staff facilitates and supports the work of the chapters and implements statewide programs. The Society is headquartered in Sacramento.
