Professional Development
The Garden Conservancy works in many ways to foster professional development of the gardeners and preservationists across America. Among other efforts, we create and present a Preservation Weekend series of conferences, which was first held in 2007 and again in 2010 and 2012. In addition, from 1999 through 2009, the Garden Conservancy offered a Marco Polo Stufano Garden Conservancy Fellowship.
Preservation Weekend
The Preservation Weekend conference series, launched in 2007, was created to extend the mission-driven garden preservation work of the Garden Conservancy, by enhancing collaboration and sharing expertise in garden development and management among people in gardens around the country.

Marco Polo Stufano Garden Conservancy Fellowship
Established in 1999 and spanning ten years, the Marco Polo Stufano Garden Conservancy Fellowship offered a gardener or horticulturist an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the preservation of American gardens. To preserving our garden heritage for the future, it is essential to foster tomorrow’s horticultural leaders. The Fellowship offered an opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to manage an exceptional garden and develop it for public education and enjoyment.
