This is the Seventh Seminar and Study Tour in the landscape design
and history series: Gardens to Match Your Architecture
The seminar presentations will run the gamut of new public and residential landscapes to mature residential gardens that have withstood the test of time and are deserving of continuing preservation. Special focus will be given to the regeneration of the Los Angeles River watershed and adjacent Los Angeles State Historic Park (affectionately known as The Cornfields), a new park in the heart of downtown that celebrates the natural and cultural heritage of Los Angeles. The seminar and tour will also include a look at historical gardens along the Pasadena portion of the Arroyo Seco. The study tour will begin at the architecture and planning firm, JohnsonFain, on a downtown site historically linked to the Los Angeles River and continue to Pasadena along the Arroyo Seco.
Seminar: Friday, February 27, 2009; 8:30 am to 6 pm
Ayres Hall, Los Angeles County Arboretum, Arcadia
Study Tour: Saturday, February 28, 8 am to 6 pm
Tour begins with a visit to The Cornfields in Downtown Los Angeles and continues to private gardens in Pasadena.
